Vera Wang is the most famous wedding dress designer of modern times. Even though her design portfolio contains at least 40 categories, she has an enduring reputation as the go-to designer of bridal gowns for celebrities and every day women alike.
Here are Vera Wang’s top 10 Wedding Day Do’s from WWD:
- Feeling comfortable in your appearance is incredibly important.
- The elements of your dress should be determined not only by where you get married but what time of day it is and the temperature of the venue.
- It’s important to see the whole look-not just the dress. The headpiece, bouquet and shoes and even makeup shouldn’t just be an afterthought.
- Hem length is key. The dress should float just above the shoes, but the shoes shouldn’t be visible.
- The bouquet shouldn’t be so big that it would detract from the dress.
- Make up shouldn’t make the bride not look like herself-it should enhance the features, not disguise them. Same with hairstyles-avoid anything elaborate with too many bobby pins.
- Use your shoes to coordinate your height with the groom. Wear a kitten heel if you are close in height and a platform if he’s a lot taller.
- Use black and white photography as well as color. It’s timeless.
- Always step into your dress rather than pull it over your head-that’s asking for trouble with makeup and hair.
- Savor the moment and take your time walking back down the aisle. It lets people see the dress. You put a great amount of time into the planning, so enjoy every minute!
