New York, New York —The Worth Collection presents its Spring 2009 Collection. And the thematic highlights are: details, details along with ruffles, nautical looks, graphic B&W, and optimistic colors.

As Mies van der Rohe, a pioneer of modern architecture, used to say, "God is in the details." And fabulous details — like witty embellishments, the chic use of materials, and clever draping — were everywhere in Worth’s Spring 2009 Collection, making it one of their freshest and most memorable to date.

"In tough times, it’s the little things that count and remind us of our optimism," says Diane Manley, director of design at Worth, the luxury women's ready-to-wear house. "Industrial grommets on a sexy off the shoulder top. Bows that tie just so. The playful mix of materials like earthy cork and patent leather. A whimsical group of buttons punctuating a clutch. This season is all about letting fashion remind us to stay lighthearted and upbeat."

A company long known for its attention to detail and fine fabrics, Worth put an exclamation point on that heritage with this Collection. For Spring, they showed a host of knock-out pieces and new and interesting fabrics. Highlights included a slick, patent-leather trench with rounded lapels and white accent stitching; a striped jacket with a whimsical, chain-link pocket detail; a chic scarf-print tunic with a drawstring waist and lace-up front (perfect for the French Riviera); a fresh, fun take on the roomy, cinched-waist "news pant"; a crispy-cotton, gathered-hem coat; a fitted sheath with an ingenuous, softly-twisted neck detail; and a white linen peasant tunic with sequins that blend casual and glam with sheer perfection.
